As you may be aware there is an extreme fire danger rating, windy conditions and high temperatures predicted for Boxing Day.
Safety of our participants, staff and volunteers is our primary consideration. At this stage we assess that the event can still proceed, however we have decided to amend our scheduled race timings in an attempt to limit everyone’s exposure to risk on the day. Accordingly the program will now run as follows:
- 07-30 – Registrations Open
- 08-30 – 4km Honeysuckle Beach Run Start
- 09-30 – 2.5km Balnarring & District Community Bank Challenge Start
- 10-00 – 400m Nipper Swim Start
- 10-30 – 400m Novice Swim Start
- 11-30 – 1.2km Point Leo Swim Classic Start
We ask all competitors to bring ample water supply and sun protection. There will be a water station at the club and at the adjacent amenities block, however due to the number of people expected at the beach that day, it is recommended you consider bringing your own supply of water to begin with.
We are working with our local CFA and authorities to monitor the fire danger and the conditions and we will advise you all of any further changes when they arise.
