Point Leo was known as Bobbanaring to the local Bunurong people prior to European settlement. The name Bobbas originated from this name.
The Bobbas are an informal group of past active members of the Club who are regularly updated about Club activities and who regularly assist the Club financially, and take part in fundraising functions, carnival preparation and support, and working bees. They also enjoy social get togethers 2-3 times each year.
The Bobbas were formed in 1967 and there are Bobbas now spread across Australia from Perth to Cairns and Port Douglas, with one Bobba who resides in Scotland.
The Bobbas keep in close contact with each other by email, particularly in regard to the health and welfare of all Bobbas. Three members of the first Club Bronze squad in November 1955 are regular attendees at functions.
